Weekend Roundup: Naked at the Art Museum, Cirque du Soleil, and more

In a sudden, but certainly not unfortunate, twist, November weather is treating us unseasonably well. This means you still have a chance to get outside and enjoy autumn before the temperatures plummet and we slip into drearier days. There are still chances for ghost tours, visiting local parks, and harvesting late season fruits and vegetables at local orchards.

For a not so traditional visit to an art museum, consider the special "Naked at the Philadelphia Museum Scavenger Hunt." A chance to "take an unblushing look at nudity" in art at the Philadelphia Museum this Saturday, you form a six person team that wanders all over the museum following various clues, a la the Da Vinci Code. Those interested do need to call to make a reservation, and should check out the website http://www.watsonadventures.com/schedule_philadelphia.html.

Also on Saturday, you can visit the Kimmel Center to hear Stravinsky's "Firebird" played by the Philadelphia Orchestra (along with Debussy's ethereal Nocturnes) or try to grab rush tickets for the Cirque du Soleil performance "Delirium" at the Wachovia Center. If you're on the Avenue for the Arts, consider a little center city shopping at Tower Records (which is sadly going out of business, now everything's at 30% off) or grabbing sushi at Shiroi Hana, just off of 15th and Locust.

Finally, lest you forget just how easy it really is to get your culture fix, Swat will be offering a variety of events this weekend that are definitely worth checking out. Ranging from theater with the classic comedy "The Odd Couple," to a violin master class, today, Friday, in Lang, to the third a cappella concert of the year by Mixed Company, this Saturday night.
