Student Council Report

Student Council planned an upcoming event where student leaders will meet to identify common obstacles when trying to organize events, including those of funding, communication, and personnel problems. Student Council members will attend the meeting and relate the student's complaints to the administration. The event is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Tuesday February 28th.

The administration also wants to know how students get their campus information. They are currently putting resources into the student dashboard since that's where they think most students get their information. Council is considering conducting a poll to see where students actually get their information from. Council agreed that the college should move towards having a searchable events calendar online, much like that currently in place at Haverford, and they will discuss this with the administration.

A related problem is that of what to do about Reserved Students Digest. Rasa Petrauskaite '08, who was Student Council secretary last semester, is currently in charge of forwarding all e-mails to the list, but it is a frustrating job for one volunteer. Council does not want to make this a paid position or write it into their constitution. Doing that would make the Reserved Students Digest "entrenched," when it's already an inefficient system. Council hopes to work towards a better system this semester.

Online voting for Vice-President has already started and will end Thursday morning at 10 AM. Voting will also take place in Sharples on Thursday and Friday. Look at the Gazette's coverage of the Vice-Presidential candidates and cast your vote soon.
