Student Council Report

As we wrap up another semester, the activities of Student Council are winding down. Council has not forgotten about "Thanksgiving in the Spring." They are working on a write up of everything they've done to give to the administration. Registrar Martin Warner and Provost Connie Hungerford will come up with a plan over the summer to be discussed and voted on next year.

Elections will be happening later this week. Platforms can be read in Tuesday's issue of the Gazette, and today we published a report of last night's presidential candidate forum. Online voting will start on Thursday at noon and will end Monday at 10 AM. Sharples voting will be held at lunch and dinner on Monday and Tuesday.

Student Council postponed a Fireside Chat with the College Budget Committee and the College Planning Committee to early next semester. This chat will feature President Al Bloom and Treasurer Suzanne Welsh, possibly the two most powerful people at the college, and Council wanted to make sure it had optimal attendance.

Lastly, Appointments Committee needs to appoint people for two search committees to replace Director of Worth Health Center Linda Echols and Director of ITS Judy Downing, both of whom are retiring. Applications are due on Monday April 30th, and you can apply at this link: http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/org/appointments/vacancies.html

Weather

Friday: Rain Showers. High of 86.

There's a new class of freshmen wandering around campus.

Overnight: Partly Cloudy. Low of 66.

Now, is it just me, or do they wear their Swat lanyards less than last year's freshmen did?

Saturday: Mostly Sunny. High of 78.

Surely this is a sign of a good year to come.
