Where is the Big Chair *now*?

The Big Chair once again disappeared from our verdant Parrish Beach sometime last week. It is much too early for it's winter hibernation-- so where indeed is that iconic monstrous piece of lawn furniture? Vice President of Facilities Stu Hain explains in an e-mail:

We found the chair broken in three places and no longer safe. We do not know how it was broken. It receives a lot of heavy use and is often pushed and pulled around. It has been broken several times before. We are now looking for a way to make it stronger structurally without serious impact on the intent of Jake Beckman, its creator.

Indeed, the situation seems grave. We at the Gazette pray fervently for its healthy return, so we can pose for cheesy photos and glory in its grand stature once more. Leave thoughts and prayers in comments.

It looks really out of place in its new location.

I don't think I can sleep at night unless I know that the big chair is safely being repaired somewhere, and will soon come back to us.

Weather

Friday: Rain Showers. High of 86.

There's a new class of freshmen wandering around campus.

Overnight: Partly Cloudy. Low of 66.

Now, is it just me, or do they wear their Swat lanyards less than last year's freshmen did?

Saturday: Mostly Sunny. High of 78.

Surely this is a sign of a good year to come.
